Content SEO

About this tool.

Keyword density is how often a word or phrase appears compared with the total words on the page. There is no magic percentage that makes a page rank, and Google does not publish one. What the number is good for is catching two problems: a page that never mentions the thing people search for, and a page that repeats it so often that it reads badly. This tool counts single words and two- and three-word phrases, checks your own target keywords, and flags anything that looks repeated on purpose.

How to use it
  1. Paste the visible text of one page or article. Leave out menus and footers so the count is fair.
  2. Type your target keywords, separated by commas, to see how often each appears and whether it shows up in the first 100 words.
  3. Switch between words, 2-word and 3-word phrases, read the checks, then rewrite repeated lines in plain language and paste again.

Density = times a word or phrase appears ÷ total words × 100. Your text stays in this browser.

Checks
  • Paste your page text on the left and the keyword counts appear here.

Good to know: Write for the person first. If your main phrase appears naturally in the title, the first paragraph, a heading or two and the closing line, you are usually fine. Use related words and the questions customers actually ask rather than repeating one phrase. Many dentists, plumbers and shops do rank with a density well under 2 percent.

Questions

Good to know.

What is a good keyword density?+
There is no official number. Google has never named an ideal percentage. As a rough guide, a main single keyword that stays under about 2 to 3 percent usually reads naturally, and phrases are lower than that. If the text sounds odd when read aloud, it is too much.
How is keyword density calculated here?+
Times the word or phrase appears, divided by the total number of words in your text, multiplied by 100. A 2-word phrase that appears 4 times in a 400-word text scores 1 percent.
What counts as keyword stuffing?+
Repeating a word or phrase again and again to try to rank, often in a way that makes the text awkward to read. Google's spam policies list it as a violation. This tool marks high figures as a warning, but only you can judge if the writing still sounds natural.
Does it count words in other languages?+
Yes. It reads letters from most scripts, including Hindi in Devanagari. The common-word filter covers English and a few Hinglish words. Turn it off if your text is in another language.
Why ignore common words?+
Words like the, and, of, is, hai and ka are in every text, so they would fill the top of every list. With the filter on, phrases that start or end with a common word are also skipped, so you see the meaningful ones.
Is my text sent anywhere?+
No. The count runs inside your browser and nothing you paste is uploaded or saved. This tool does not read your website, so paste the text yourself.
