On-page SEO

About this tool.

Meta tags sit in the head of your page and tell Google and social apps what the page is about. The title and description shape your search result. Open Graph and Twitter tags control the picture, title and text shown when someone shares your link on WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn or X. This tool writes all of them for you, escapes special characters correctly, and flags the mistakes that cost clicks.

How to use it
  1. Type your page title and description and watch the length meters. Add the page address for the canonical link.
  2. Turn on Open Graph and Twitter tags, add a 1200 by 630 share image, and check the preview.
  3. Pick HTML or Next.js, fix anything the checks flag, then copy the code or download it.

Your code

<!-- Twitter / X -->
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image">

Paste inside the <head> of your page, above the closing </head> tag.

Checks
  • Add a page title. It is the most important tag on the page.
  • Add a meta description. Without one, Google picks text from the page.
  • Add a share image. Links without one look plain when shared on WhatsApp, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • No canonical link yet. Add one if the same page can open at more than one address.

Approximate look. Each app crops and cuts text a little differently, and caches an old preview for a while after you change a tag.

Good to know: Write a different title and description for every page, and put the words your customer would search near the start. After you publish, share the link in WhatsApp or use the Facebook Sharing Debugger to refresh a cached preview. The share image must be a full https address, relative paths like /share.jpg are ignored by social apps.

Questions

Good to know.

Where do I paste the generated tags?+
In the head section of your page, before the closing head tag. On WordPress, an SEO plugin usually has fields for these, and a theme file is only needed for the extras. In Next.js, choose the Next.js format and paste it into a layout.js or page.js file.
What size should the share image be?+
Use 1200 by 630 pixels as a JPG or PNG, under about 1 MB. That ratio works on Facebook, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and the large Twitter card. Keep text and faces away from the edges, since some apps crop.
Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter tags?+
Open Graph covers most apps, including WhatsApp and LinkedIn. X reads its own twitter tags first and falls back to Open Graph, so adding both gives you control over each. This tool reuses the same title, description and image for both.
What does the canonical link do?+
It tells Google which address is the main one when a page can open at several URLs, for example with and without tracking parameters. Point it at the clean https address of the page itself.
Does the share preview send my image link anywhere?+
The tags are built in your browser and nothing is sent to us. To show the preview, your browser loads the image from the address you typed, the same way it would on any web page.
