A launch checklist before your website goes live

Most launch-day problems are small: a form that goes nowhere, a page with placeholder text, a phone number with a typo. A short checklist run on a real phone catches nearly all of them.

A simple picture of what a good business website is made of: clear pages, a visible next step and a price that matches the scope.

Content and contact details

  • Read every page once, out loud, and remove all placeholder text.
  • Check that the phone number, WhatsApp link and email address open the right app.
  • Submit the enquiry form yourself and confirm the message actually arrives.
  • Make sure prices, addresses and opening hours match your Google listing.

Speed and devices

Open the site on a real phone over mobile data, not only on your office wifi. Tap every button, open the menu, and scroll each page. Then check it once in a second browser, because a layout that looks fine in one can break in another.

Search and tracking

  • Give every page its own title and description.
  • Confirm the site is not set to "discourage search engines" from the testing stage.
  • Add Google Analytics and Search Console before launch, not after.
  • Set up a redirect from any old address to the new one.

The day after

Check that your first real enquiry arrives, look at the analytics to confirm visits are being counted, and keep a backup copy of the finished site. A launch is not the end of the work, it is the point where real customers start giving you feedback.

A short example

Put it into practice.

  1. The problem

The site looks ready, but nobody has checked it on a real phone, a slow network or a search engine.

  2. Step 1

Test every page, form and button on at least one Android phone and one iPhone

  3. Step 2

Check titles, descriptions and the sitemap, then submit the site to Google Search Console

  4. Step 3

Make sure a test enquiry reaches the right inbox or WhatsApp number

  5. The plan

The plan: launch only after a real enquiry has travelled from the form to your phone.
